Curtis Lee Black
Curtis became involved in music at a early age thanks to his parents. He took private guitar lessons beginning at age 10 with music instructor Professor Woodard. Curtis continued to be involved in music singing (Bass & Baritone) and playing in the school band & choir, the director of Church choirs, different 70‘s & 80's bands such as ; the Inter-city sounds, People‘s choice, The Definitions, Black Cotton & Silk String, just to name a few. In 1990 Curtis joined legendary radio station WUFO. This gave Curtis a another opportunity to use his voice and to gain additional knowledge on the music industry. During this time Curtis noticed radio stations in western New York were not playing much local or any soul blues. This lead to the development of the ’Rhythm and Blues revue’ radio and TV show. The show features local musicians, National Blues and R & B acts, interviews, commentary and some local events. In 1992 long time friend Leander Roberson joined the Rhythm & Blues revue team. Together along with Adonis productions they were first to partner with Memphis TN. to video tape the Memphis in May celebration and the W. C. Handy Blues awards, featuring one of the best video taped interview with the late great blues guitarist ’Luther Allison’. Curtis has interviewed numerous national and local artists. Curtis has been a volunteer judge for the Western New York Blues Society Memphis Bound competition 5 times and was also inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame in 9/2004. He’s done Historical documentaries for the local school systems and lends his voice to different computerized voice system in the area, such as HSBC's password reset VRU and 401K VRU. Curtis continues to be involved in the local community as well as promoting local music, national Blues artists and his voice can be heard on commercials around western New York and Illinois. There is much more to come from him. Check one of his shows when you get a chance. In Buffalo , NY, Ch20 8 PM Thursdays and 11 PM on Sundays, The suburbs Wednesdays at 11:35 PM Ch20.
